Kushy Scanner will be available on both iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play). Visit our Download page for links and system requirements. The app is currently in development and will be released soon.
Yes! Kushy Scanner is completely free to download and use. All core features including strain identification, detailed strain information, and scan history are available at no cost.
Kushy Scanner works on iPhone 6s or newer running iOS 14.0+, and Android devices running Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later with at least 2GB of RAM.
An internet connection is required for initial setup and downloading the strain database. After that, basic strain identification works offline. Cloud sync and accessing the latest strain data require an internet connection.
Open the app, tap the camera button, and take a clear photo of your cannabis bud. Make sure the bud is well-lit and in focus. The AI will analyze the image and provide strain matches within seconds.
Our neural network is trained on over 1,000 cannabis strains and provides high accuracy results. However, many strains share similar visual characteristics, so we provide confidence scores and multiple matches. For best results, use good lighting and take clear photos.
The best scan photos have: natural or bright lighting, the entire bud in frame and in focus, a clean contrasting background (white or black works best), no shadows or glare, and show trichome detail clearly.
For best results, scan one bud at a time. Scanning multiple buds may reduce accuracy as the AI analyzes the entire image. Take separate photos of each bud for accurate identification.
Cannabis appearance can vary based on growing conditions, curing methods, age, and phenotype variations. Even the same strain can look different. Our AI provides the most likely matches based on visual characteristics, but some variation is normal.
Each strain profile includes: strain type (Indica/Sativa/Hybrid), effects and benefits, flavor and aroma profiles, terpene information, average THC/CBD levels, genetic lineage, user ratings and reviews, and medical applications.
The confidence score (shown as a percentage) indicates how certain the AI is about the match. Higher percentages mean stronger visual similarity to that strain. A 90%+ match is very confident, 70-90% is good, below 70% suggests the strain may not be in our database.
If you believe the identification is incorrect, you can: verify the strain through other means (dispensary label, lab testing), try taking another photo with better lighting, or report the issue through our feedback system to help improve our AI.
Yes! All your scans are automatically saved to your Scan History. You can access past scans, add notes, mark favorites, and sync your history across devices when signed in.
An account is optional but recommended. Without an account, you can still use the app, but your scan history won't sync across devices. Creating an account enables cloud sync, personalized recommendations, and the ability to save favorites.
We take privacy seriously. Photos are processed for identification and then deleted—we never store your images. We only collect: scan history (strain names and dates), app usage statistics, and optional account information (email). See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Slow performance can be caused by: low device storage, outdated app version, poor internet connection, or too many background apps. Try: clearing app cache, updating to the latest version, ensuring good WiFi/data connection, or restarting your device.
If scan results don't load: check your internet connection, ensure the app is updated, try closing and reopening the app, or restart your device. If the issue persists, contact support.
The strain database updates automatically when connected to the internet. You can also manually check for updates in Settings > Database > Check for Updates. We regularly add new strains and improve our AI models.
